The South Lyon East Cougars soccer team traveled to Pinckney this afternoon for their first road game of the season. The Cougars came out strong but it was the Pirates who scored first off of a penalty shot. Not long after the Cougars also had a penalty shot opportunity, which resulted in a goal for Junior Isaac Shiner. Shiner earned a second goal on another penalty shot later in the half. Despite strong defensive efforts, the Pirates added two more goals in the first half, putting the score 3-2 at the intermission. The Pirates held the Cougars to two goals for the remainder of the game and were able to add one more to their total in the second half. Final Score: East: 2, Pinckney: 4

In JV action, the Cougars struck early with a goal from Freshman Drew Neville off of a corner kick served by Sophomore Connor Karfis. The Cougars left the Pirates scoreless with some excellent defensive efforts by Junior Sam Schmidt and rest of the defensive line up, as well as some acrobatic saves by both goalies, Sophomore Nathan Samluk (first half) and Quinn Shifferd (second half). Final Score: East: 1, Pinckney: 0

The Cougars host Livonia Clarenceville on Monday, August 27 - JV kicks off at 5:00pm followed by Varsity at 6:30pm.
