The South Lyon East Cougars took on the Walled Lake Western Warriors the second time this season, this time in the LVC tournament.  The previous time the two teams met on the pitch, WLW beat SLE 3-2.  However, the Cougars really wanted the win this time.  Both teams played hard with several shots on net but at halftime the score was 0-0.   The Warriors scored early in the second half.  The Cougars first goal remained elusive until senior captain Veronica Bolanos assisted sophomore Annika Gilson scoring the first goal with 11:45 remaining in the second half.tying up the game 1-1.   At the end of regulation time, the score was still tied at 1-1.  Since it was a tournment game, the teams played two-10 minutes OTs.  Neither team scored at the end of the overtime periods so then we went to a PK shootout.  I don't think either team wanted this especially our keeper's mom but oh well we needed to determine a winner.  After the first five players shot for both teams, both East & Western had 3 goals & 2 saves.  Now the one for one round.  East scored on the next 3 players but when Western's 8th player came up to take the shot, she hit the crossbar and the Cougars won the game!  It was awesome and stressful at the same time.  Never want to go through that again.  Way to go ladies!
