SLU HOCKEY

Hockey start's the season 2-0   11/15 vs Ann Arbor Huron The South Lyon Unified Hockey Team kicked off their season with a convincing 6-3 win over the Ann Arbor Huron River Rats Wednesday night at the KV Ice House. South Lyon was led by Junior Nick Trosin who had two goals and an assist and Senior Captain Gavin Mulcahy who had two goals.  Junior Jason King and Sophomore Nathan Ligi each had a goal and a helper, Seniors Connor Hayden and Ethan Daugherty each had two assists and Sophomore Grant Laird chipped in with an apple. Junior goaltender Ethan Shamberger had 21 stops for the win. The game was the first for new coaches Dennis Gagnon and Gary Quitiquit, who joined South Lyon after seven seasons at Milford.   Varsity Football (East vs Lakeland) at the Big House Thursday, August 24, 2023 Game Time 3:30 PM Game Day information    TICKET SALES All Tickets will be sold for $10.00 (Cash only) Pre-Sale Tickets will be sold through the Athletic Department and the Football Boosters. The Athletic Department will sell tickets starting Thursday, August 10 from 9:00 AM to noon and 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM in the athletic  office.  Enter at door 17, located by the main gym entrance.  The department will sell tickets during student registration.  Student Registration (Tuesday, August 22) from 8:00AM-1:00PM Student Registration (Wednesday, August 23) from 9:00AM-11:00AM Band, Cheer, Pom and Dance will also have opportunities to sell tickets within their own community prior to August 24. East Athletics (2023-2024) Updated Sports Participation Fees

(SPORTS PARTICIPATION FEES) Fall Sports will return officially to action when the MHSAA season starts on August 12 - Please note the updated Pay to Participate fees.   Athletic Department Pay to Participate Fees High School Fee: $210 per athlete, per sport.  Middle School Fee: $100 per athlete, per sport. Yearly Family Cap:  $850 per family, includes MS and HS athletes. Pay to Participate waivers remain in place for families who qualify. Pay to Participate waiver information must be completed through the Online Sports Registration at the start of the sports season.

South Lyon East Boys Tennis 2024 Tryouts

The South Lyon East Boys Tennis team will be holding tryouts for both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams on August 12th, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the South Lyon East Tennis Courts.  In the case of rain, the tryouts will be held in the South Lyon East Gymnasium. If you're going into 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade and will be attending either South Lyon East High School or the International Academy in the fall of 2024 and believe you have what it takes to be on this regional winning, top 10 State Tournament finishing team, come on out and let's see what you've got. Boys Tennis Tryouts Monday, August 7th 3:30 PM

The 2023 South Lyon East Boys Tennis Tryouts will take place from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Monday, August 7th at the South Lyon East Tennis Courts. Tryouts consist of various tennis drills and matches which are evaluated by the coaching staff. For 2023, incoming FRESHMEN who try out will not be cut and will automatically make the team.  (Varsity status must still be earned and this will be decided during the first week of practices.) Girls Varsity Volleyball vs. Waterford Mott High School

South Lyon, Mich. - The South Lyon East State volleyball program opened Lakes Valley Conference play with a program sweep of the Water Mott Corsairs inside Cougar Arena.  Varsity had a game hitting .568 on the night with 28 kills on 44 swings.  Led by Kills leader Lauren Johnson with 7 on the night.  Addy Williams added 5 kills for the Cougars. The Cougars held the Corsairs to a .158 attack percentage, sweeping the Corsairs 25-8, 25-13, 25-10 for the win. The Cougars racked up 27 aces, led by Katelyn Koch with 8 all by herself.   South Lyon East heads to the Legacy Center on Saturday for the Program cup at 8:30am. 

Parents beat Players in a Stunning Upset!!!

In a highly anticipated rematch, the South Lyon East Boys Tennis Team was knocked off by their parents this year in the annual Players vs Parents match at the South Lyon East courts on August 23rd.  It was a very close match with the parents squeaking out a narrow 15-14 victory.   A great time was had by all with a total attendance of 67 players, parents and family members in attendance.  A special thanks goes out to our Tennis Boosters organization who raised over $340 through raffles and auctions.  Thanks to every one of you! The score was all tied up at 14-14 with only one match left on the courts.  And that match came right down to the wire going to a 5 point tie-breaker.  With everything on the line, Nick & Peyton defended the parent's team, while Brayden & Michael were out there for the players.  With the parents up 5-4 and match point, Nick sent a mild kick serve to Michael.  Michael made a valiant attempt, but

Varsity Inaugural Scrimmage

Varsity had their inaugural scrimmage of the 2022 season.  The cougars faced up against some of the best competition in state this past Thursday and performed really well for being such a young team.  The Cougars went up against Novi, Stoney Creek, Mercy, Clarkston and Oxford. A lot of athletes showed the potential to be great by the end of the season.   #BeEast #SLEVB

New Players Tryout - Monday August 8th at 3:30 PM

The South Lyon East Boys Tennis Team will be holding a tryout for all new player grades 9 thru 12 on Monday, August 8th from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.  In order to participate all students must have a physical taken on or after April 15th, 2022 on a completed MHSAA Physical Form. Practices start the next day and run through mid-October.  JV practice is from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM and Varsity practice is held from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. South Lyon EAST Girls Basketball Summer Camp Series

Players (5th-8th grade) will be instructed by SL EAST High School basketball coaches in the fundamentals of defense, rebounding, passing, ball-handling, and shooting.  Strength, speed, and jump training, along with overall conditioning will be incorporated into each of the sessions.  The camp will also teach defensive and offensive team concepts.  Registered high school players will also be able to play in games (shootouts) in Plymouth.Canton/Novi/Northville.  Click on the Camps and Clinics tab for registration information.

Boys Basketball Informational Meeting

East Ballers! WE will be hosting an informational meeting for anyone interested in playing basketball this season. The South Lyon East Boys Tennis Team has had an excellent last week of the conference tennis season.  The team went 3-1 over the stretch, dropping their only in-conference match of the year to Lakeland 7-2, but rebounding with wins over Walled lake Western 9-0, Waterford United 9-0 and Walled Lake Central 6-3.   The Cougars finished the year with their best ever 6-1 conference record and a 2nd place overall regular season.  On their way to this result they also piled up a few team firsts:  First ever wins against perennial power houses Walled Lake Central and Walled Lake Northern.  They also had an all-time best record of 15-2 for a record setting .882 winning percentage.  The team also picked up a best-ever 5 seeded flights in the upcoming LVC tournament. Boys JV Tennis Team Sinks Lakeland

The South Lyon East Boys Tennis Team continued their winning ways on Thursday with a solid win over a strong Lakeland team.  It was an almost perfect day for tennis and the East boys really took advantage.  In an unusual 4 game set format, the #1 Doubles team of Dev Nimmala and Anish Rao played a fantastic crowd pleasing match, winning 4-1, 5-4(7-4) to kick things off.  Garrett Stalions and Isaac Servin ran into a tough team at #2 doubles, losing 2-4, 1-4.  At #3 Doubles Bhavesh Suraishnkar and Kartikeya Nukala got the netters back on their winning ways.  They played a very clean match and won 4-2, 4-1.  Similarly, the #4 team of Zachary Walcott and Ryan Kruschka knocked off their opponents 4-1, 4-2.  In the most lopsided match, at #5 Doubles Dhanush Tavva and Kyle Kosior won their match easily, 4-0, 4-1.  In a hotly contested match, the #6 Doubles team of Wyatt Galley and Jonah Witt dropped one to the Eagles, 2-4, 3-5.  The #7 mat

Boys Tennis Takes Fourth Place in Milford Invitational

In a fantastic 8 team tournament, the South Lyon East Boys Tennis Team played a number of tight matches and ultimately finished in 4th place overall.  The netters finished behind Lakeland, Walled Lake Northern and Farmington in the standings, but ahead of South Lyon, Hartland, Pinckney and Milford. Highlighting the tournament for the Cougars was #1 Singles Player Cameron Crosby, who was the only East player to win the championship at his flight. A couple of players and teams were able to make it to the championship match, but ultimately ended up as runners up in their flight.  At 2 Doubles, Trevor Perl & Mason Long gave great effort winning their first two matches before falling to Lakeland in the finals.  At 3 Doubles, Nick Groene & Martin Bande, playing together for the first time, had a great run winning their first two matches until falling in the finals again to Lakeland. South Lyon East Boys Tennis Tops Walled Lake Northern

For the first time in school history, the South Lyon East Boys Tennis Team has beaten perennial LVC contender Walled Lake Northern.  The East Boys used another fantastic performance by their doubles teams and clutch play from the top of the lineup to overcome a youthful Walled Lake Northern Squad 6 matches to 3 on Sept. 9th at the South Lyon East tennis courts. Cameron Crosby was the first to down his opponent.  He had another convincing 6-3, 6-1 victory over a quality freshman.  Mason Long & Trevor Perl were in the midst of a solid start, up 4-0, when their opponents had to retire due to an injury.  Martin Bande and Dylan Zischerk at 4 doubles were the next to put a win on the board, downing their oponents 7-5, 6-1.  These matches put East up 3-0, but Northern came roaring back.  Their first win was over Ben King at 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2.  They then got the win over Brayden Erwin at 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4.  They pulled even with a

South Lyon East Boys Tennis Smashes South Lyon

The South Lyon East Boys Tennis Team continued their winning ways on Thursday with a sound 8 matches to 1 thumping of their crosstown rival South Lyon.  The East doubles teams continued their undefeated streak in the Lakes Valley Conference going a perfect 5-0.  Leading it off was the first doubles pairing of Aarav Contractor & Connor Christensen.  This team outlasted their opponents winning in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.  Coach Clark, the first year coach of South Lyon East, said that "It's a huge luxury to have players at 1 doubles that would almost certainly be playing singles on most teams."  The second doubles team of Mason Long and Trevor Perl won a hard fought first set, 7-6 (7-1) and then pulled away in the second set 6-2.  At third doubles Nick Groene & Ashwanth Vijayan easily overcame their opponents 6-2, 6-2.  Coach Clark noted, "It's amazing to have solid senior leadership in the middle of the lineup.&nbs

South Lyon East Boys Tennis Wins First Lakes Valley Conference Match

The South Lyon East Boys Tennis Team got off to a flying start of their 2021 Lakes Valley Conference Schedule, defeating Milford High School 9-0.  Captains Daniel Stack and Benjamin King lead a fired up squad to straight set victories in all flights.  Emotional Team Leader Mason Long, along with his doubles partner Trevor Perl lead the doubles teams in a dominating performance. The East squad looks to maintain an unblemished conference record when they take on their rival school, South Lyon, on Thursday at 3:30 PM in a match at the South Lyon East Courts.  Additionally, the Junior Varsity players will also be taking on South Lyon over at the South Lyon courts at the same time. The coaching staff, players and boosters want to thank all of the many fans for coming out and cheering on the team. #BeEast

South Lyon East Boys Tennis Wins Pinckney Invitational Tournament

For the second year in a row the South Lyon East Boys Varsity Tennis Team has won the Pinckney Invitational Tournament in Pinckney Michigan.  The win comes on the strength First Singles domination from Cameron Crosby and undefeated run by all of the doubles teams.  South Lyon East came out on top by scoring a total of 20 points, South Lyon placed second with 12 points, Brighton came in third with 10 point and Pinckney rounded out the scoring with 7 points. All players for South Lyon East participated in the scoring:  Cameron Crosby came in 1st place at #1 Singles, Daniel Stack came in second place at #2 Singles, Brayden Erwin came in 2nd place at #3 Singles and in his first singles appearance, Aarav Contractor placed 3rd at #4 Singles.
