Tuesday evening the South Lyon East Boys Soccer Team gathered to celebrate the end of their 2017 season. Each of the 56 players received their JV/Varsity certificates, numbers and letters along with many receiving academic awards.  A special congratulations goes out to Cougars Senior Captain Nathan Chaluleu, who earned the teams only spot Lake Valley Conference All Conference team, while Senior Captain Josh Ohland, and Sophomores Isaac Shiner and Peyton Dock earned All Conference Honorable Mention.

In addition to these awards, many players received team-nominated awards. The recipients of these awards were voted on by their fellow teammates. The 2017 honorees are:

• Junior Varsity Defensive Player of the Year: Sam Schmidt
• Junior Varsity Offensive Player of the Year: Connor Karfis
• ?Junior Varsity Midfield Player of the Year: Carter Salna and Maxim Wyrwa
• Junior Varsity Player of the Year: Natalio Scappaticci

• Varsity Defenseman of the Year: Deken Strong
• Varsity Offensive Player of the Year: Josh Ohland
• ?Varsity Midfield Player of the Year: Grayson Davies
• Varsity Player of the Year: Isaac Shiner

The team also selected a player from the JV and Varsity teams to receives the team's Fair Play Award. The recipients of this award encompass exemplary fair play both on and off the pitch. The 2017 Fair Play Award winners are:

• Junior Varsity: Chase Richards
• Varsity: Aiden Seaver

The final award of the evening was the Senior Cougar Award. This award is given to a senior who demonstrates the following:

• Sportsmanship
• Leadership qualities
• Respected by teammates
• Shows Cougar Spirit
• Dedication to the team?

The 2017 Senior Cougar Award recipient is Nathan Chaluleu.
