Tuesday night the South Lyon East Senior Cougars played their last match in Cougar Stadium. The team celebrated Senior Night as they hosted the Corsairs of Waterford Mott. The night started off with the Junior Varsity match up. The Corsairs struck early, scoring within the first minute of play. East struggled to put things together in the first half but held Mott to a single goal. When the match continued after half time, the Cougars came out ready and determined. At the 28.49 minute mark, Junior Jakob Olechiw scored off of a beautiful cross pass from Freshman Maan Patel to tie of the  game. Less than a minute later, the same duo was able to connect again to give the JV Cougars a one goal lead. East was not done, at 18:42 Freshman Connor Karfis scored with an assist from Freshman John Crapps. The Cougar defense and goalie left the Corsairs scoreless in the second half. Final score: East JV - 3, Mott - 1.

Following the JV match, the East Varsity team hit the field. The field was set with Cougar seniors ready for their last home game. While the game did not go as they had hoped, it was night filled with celebration for the seniors and their families. Each senior, along with their parents, were recognized during halftime. The crowd cheered for them as they heard about their soccer memories and plans for the future. Unfortunately, East was not able to pull out a victory for the seniors. Mott was able to find the back of the net three times. And while the Cougars has some great opportunities they remained scoreless. Final score: East Varsity - 0, Mott 3.

The Cougars Lakes Valley Conference play comes to an end on Thursday, Oct 12 when they head to Walled Lake Northern. JV kicks off at 6pm, followed by Varsity at 7:30pm.
