SLU HOCKEY

Hockey start's the season 2-0

 

11/15 vs Ann Arbor Huron

The South Lyon Unified Hockey Team kicked off their season with a convincing 6-3 win over the Ann Arbor Huron River Rats Wednesday night at the KV Ice House.

South Lyon was led by Junior Nick Trosin who had two goals and an assist and Senior Captain Gavin Mulcahy who had two goals.  Junior Jason King and Sophomore Nathan Ligi each had a goal and a helper, Seniors Connor Hayden and Ethan Daugherty each had two assists and Sophomore Grant Laird chipped in with an apple.

Junior goaltender Ethan Shamberger had 21 stops for the win.

The game was the first for new coaches Dennis Gagnon and Gary Quitiquit, who joined South Lyon after seven seasons at Milford.

South Lyon hosts Lenawee United Saturday night in their annual Meet The Team Night at 6:30PM at KVIH.

 

11/18 vs Lenawee United

South Lyon Unified Hockey was hard to stop Saturday night at KVIH in front of a large and boisterous Meet The Team Night crowd, pumping in 11 goals for an 11-3 mercy win over Lenawee United.

Sophomore Nathan Ligi netted the three goal hat trick to go along with three assists which earned him the Golden Bucket, SLU’s MVP for the game award.  Seniors Gavin Mulcahy and Carter Temple each had two goals and two assists, Junior Jason King scored and had three assists, Senior Spencer Nicoloff had a goal and two helpers, first year Seniors CJ Peters and Johnathan Konett both scored, while Seniors Trevor Lyndon, Connor Hayden and Ethan Daugherty each had a helper, as did Junior Nick Trosin and Adam Backaitis, as well as Sophomore Grant Laird.

Junior tendy Ethan Shamberger had 17 saves during the first two periods before Freshmen Colin Cheadle played the third period and had 8 saves in his first action of the season.

The Hockey Team would like to thank all of the fans, especially our Student Section – The “U” Zoo, for turning out in force and helping cheer our boys to victory!

And special thanks to The Cougarettes and the SLHS Pom Squads for their participation in our special night.

SLU is off until November 29 when they will host Walled Lake United at 8PM at KVIH in their first Lakes Valley Conference tilt of the season.
